Both his painting and his sculptures are produced with technical mastery and total integrity. Yet, however important these qualities are, they are not nearly enough. Nicola’s art is dark and full of power and consequently elicits an equally strong reaction from the viewer. Nothing he does could ever be mistaken for “decoration”.
